![]() ![]() Does it still work if the old slave drive is reconnected? Are there any sharp bends? ![]() Maybe you damaged it when you disconnected the old slave. Make sure that your IDE cable is still OK. Usually that means its nearer to the power connector on the HDD, and nearer to the gound on the mainboard. The red stripe on the cable should be on the side of the #1 pin, for both the Mainboard and HDD connector. This applies for the mainboard, too (unless you have a fancy one with plastic guidance frames).Ĭheck if you're connecting it correctly. Some drives have no limiter between the IDE connectors and the Jumpers, allowing you to plug in the IDE cable seemingly correctly - when in fact, only some of the pins and some of the jumpers are connected. Now, make sure you have plugged in the IDE connector correctly. Make sure you're not accidentally looking at the jumper field the wrong way (check for Pin #1). I am assuming that you have jumpered the HDD correctly, to "master only" or "single drive". ![]() Also check the FAQ section for your problem, maybe it's some sort of weird SATA/IDE override. Look into your motherboards manual and make triply sure that you have configured the BIOS correctly.
